Stuart D. Schiff, World Fantasy Award-winning Editor of the prestigious Whispers magazine and anthology series, has compiled a wonderful assortment of cartoons, illustrations, and short stories by the gifted artist and writer, Gahan Wilson.
Gahan enjoyed a long and spectacular career doing monthly cartoons for Playboy and The New Yorker magazines, as well as editing Horror and Suspense anthologies and writing his own magical and perverse tales. He now resides in an assisted living facility and was unable to sign this volume; Stuart D. Schiff signed as the editor.
From his Introduction: “Not a facet of our society has escaped his incisive wrath. He has struck out at hunters, conservationists, businessmen, politicians, Hollywood, war, holidays, doctors, cannibals, even Mickey Mouse! Little old ladies have not escaped his note nor the family dog nor Santa Claus. Gahan shows no discrimination. If there is something that needs to be said about anything, he will find the way to do it with brilliant penetration and, above all, humor. As Will Rogers and Mark Twain knew so well, a bit of laughter is a good way to grab one’s attention. Once you have that, you can drive your point home. And in case I have not made it clear with this comparison, I put Gahan Wilson on a level with Rogers and Twain. The man is one of our national treasures and should be recognized as such.”
